Château Limestone Mantel with Carved Centre Cartouche

A weathered reclaimed limestone mantel at true château scale. The long frieze is centred on a deeply carved foliate cartouche with scrolled ends, and the surface is mottled by generations of exposure. Photographed in a panelled hall between two log stores and a pair of bronze lions, it looks as though it has never once been moved.
