Renaissance Limestone Mantel with Carved Columns

A tall reclaimed limestone mantel in the Italian Renaissance manner. A projecting dentil cornice sits above a deeply undercut foliate frieze centred on a carved mask, and the whole composition rests on relief carved columns set upon moulded plinths. The vertical emphasis asks for a room with real ceiling height, and rewards it.
